We are located in the heart of the Methow Valley.  You'll find some extremely local gems right within easy walking distance of your cabin.  Read on for some of our favorite restaurants, trails and activities.

Walking close to the Resort

Walk/ski on the Methow Community Trail at the National Fishery. 1/4 mile up the road, & friendly to off-leash dogs, there is a quiet little walk along the Methow River initiating from the National Fishery.  

​

The Sa-Teekh-Wa-Trail can be reached by walking to Winthrop on the paved trail, and then over a second pedestrian bridge on the north end of town.  Here there are interpretive signs, a cool wooded area even on hot days, and ultimately, a river cascade over granite rocks. 

​

Homestream Park, with its interpretive signs and metallic sculptures, is just across the street from Sunflower Resort and right on the banks of the Methow River. 

​

Methow Valley Trails loop is great for walking or skiing is reached via the paved trail right in front of the Wellness Center.  Before reaching local Pardners minimart, take a right over an irrigation ditch bridge, and switchback 100 feet to an upper plateau loop about 1/4 mile long, perfect for little kids on bikes, and dogs off-leash.

Meadowlark Natural Area is a 139-acre property is accessed on the east side of the town of Winthrop, a 12 minute walk from the resort. It includes 2.5 miles of walking and hiking trails through beautiful shrub-steppe habitat.

Dining in Winthrop

The Arrowleaf Bistro has contemporary local cuisine with a lovely dining room and bar.

​

East 20 Pizza is the local's favorite pizza place with 21 varieties of pizza, local beers on tap, and the option to eat in or takeout.

​

Jupiter has healthy and soul-filling bowls, with great outdoor deck.

​

The Old Schoolhouse Brewery serves up tender beef burgers, sweet & savory fries, locally famous brewed beer, & is right on the Chewuch River. 

​

Three-Fingered Jacks Saloon is the oldest continuously operating saloon in WA state.  Be surprised and delighted by the relief the interior space provides in the dead cold of winter, or the overexposure of summer. 

 

The Methow Valley Food Shed is a self-serve farmstand offering 24/7 access, located at 521 State Route 20 in Winthrop (right behind Aster/Sunflower duplex). It operates on the honor system and payment is with with Venmo.
